Guidelines on playing standards

We welcome players of all standards, from absolute beginners onwards. You will always have a chance to play with people at their own level.


Advanced — from age 13/14, has played for school or club team or in tournaments.

Intermediate — from age 11, has had some coaching and is able to rally and play sets.

Lower intermediate — from age 9/10, has had some coaching but may benefit from revision of basics.

Beginner — from age 8, little or no previous tennis experience.

Mini-tennis — from age 5, no previous tennis experience. This group will use tennis balls and equipment especially designed to develop young players’ confidence. Racquets for mini-tennis are not provided but some are available to borrow at first lesson.


Club evenings are suitable for players of all standards except complete beginners.

Ladies A practice - 10 am to 12 pm
Men’s B practice - 10 am to 12 pm

Club afternoon from 1.30 pm

Rusty Rackets - 9 am to 11 am

Junior coaching - 9 am to 12 pm
Junior coaching - 12 pm to 2 pm
Men’s A practice - 10 am to 12 pm
Club afternoon from 1.30 pm.

Team matches are on Saturdays or Sundays
